Greetings, fellow anime connoisseur! Name here, bringing you another round of news and views within the realm. As the month of May draws to a close, it seems things are starting to get shaky out there as the blight worsens and human egos clash with each other… We of gentle birth have no business with such, for we have our own problems to take care of. With that said…

1. Condolences to Kentaro Miura, Good Night Dark Knight…

On the 20th of May, Berserk’s Official Twitter Page announced the unfortunate passing of its creator, Kentaro Miura. He died on the 6th of May, at 2:48 pm, due to acute aortic dissection, a condition on the main artery. Fans and other mangaka’s alike expressed their deepest condolences, a noteworthy one is George Morikawa, the man behind Hajime no Ippo and who Miura used to work as an assistant for when he was still 18.

Miura first made Berserk as a one-shot prototype sometime in 1988, then eventually made a full version a year later and is supposedly still ongoing to this day.

His other works include Futatabi, NOA, King of Wolves, Ōrō Den, Japan, Giganto Maxia, and Duranki. He was 54 years old when he died…


2. Akira Itou, Passing of a Lyricist

Akira Itou, who is well known for composing Urusei Yatsura’s first opening song “Lum’s Love Song”, had passed away last 15th of May due to acute renal failure. He was a lyricist who had written not only theme songs for anime, but also for J-pop tracks and commercial jingles.

His other notable works include theme songs of Barefoot Gen, Cutey Honey, Mahou Shoujo Lalabel, Nanako SOS, Tetsujin 28-Go (Gigantor), and Summer Wars. A private funeral was held for him and attended by his close relatives. He was on the age of 80 when he died…

3. Mushoku Tensei Gets Delayed…

Sadly some more bad news, The second ocour of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is gonna be delayed and will premiere on October this year instead of the slated July due to “various circumstances” (one of them is probably the Coof, but I digress~). =

The official site also mentioned about delaying their third and fourth Blu-ray releases of the first show, from 20th of October to the 19th of January 2022 for the third, and from the 22nd of December to the 16th of March for the fourth.


4. Hololive is Getting An Anime..?

On the 21st of May, Hololive released a full promotional teaser video for their Hololive Alternative Project featuring the voice of Calliope Mori singing “Dawn Blue”, along with the rest of the Hololive cast fully animated and frolicking in some fantasy world.

The teaser video was storyboarded and directed by Shun Enokido the same action animation director behind Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale with the animation supervised by Yuukei Yamada ( Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie -Rebellion ), and was produced by COVER Corporation.

Hololive Alternative

Meanwhile, Hololive Alternative is a multi-media project that started sometime last February and aims to create an “ Alternative World ” featuring the girls of Hololive in a variety of works. Content creators who are interested on said project may apply on their official website.


5. Saber + Zenkaiger: Super Hero Senki, An Ambitious Hero Crossover Yet

Celebrating the 50th and 45th anniversaries of the Kamen Rider Series and Super Sentai Series respectively, a teaser trailer was announced for the upcoming Tokusatsu crossover movie, Saber + Zenkaiger : Super Hero Senki.

That is slated to premiere on the 22nd of July in Japan. Featuring thirty-seven Kamen Rider heroes and forty-six Super Sentai heroes, that is a whopping eighty-three characters ready to kick some evil butt!


6. Shuumatsu no Walküre, A Battle of Man and Gods

Shuumatsu no Walküre ( Record of Ragnarok ) just announced its anime adaptation’s global premiere on Netflix, which is this coming 17th of June.

Produced by Warner Brothers Japan and animated by Graphinica Studios, it tells the tale of when the gods of different pantheons decided to end the human race, but got cut short by a Valkyrie’s counter-proposal of instead enacting Ragnarok and giving humanity a fighting chance, which the gods enthusiastically agreed. The battle of man’s best warriors facing against utter extinction.

7. Shingeki no Kyoujin Hits World Record for Largest Comic Book

The Guiness World Record has officially certified Shingeki no Kyoujin ( Attack on Titan ) for having the largest comic book ever published.

The books have a height of a meter and a width of 70 centimeters ( estimated about 6 – 7 times larger than a regular tankoubon ), and weigh 13.7 kilograms (30.2 pounds) for each copy.

The previous record holder was a Brazilian comic, Turma Da Mônica (Monica’s Gang), created by Mauricio de Sousa Produções, which had a height of 3 feet 3.29 inches and a width of 2 feet 3.51 inches.


8. My Little Miku..?

For you Bronies that are also into Vocaloids out there… Crypton Future Media, the developer of Hatsune Miku, is having a collaboration with Hasbro’s My Little Pony brand.

Making a figure of a pony version of Hatsune Miku aptly named “Miku Pony”, developed through Kotobukiya’sBishoujo” line. The design for the figure was made by illustrator Shunya Yamashita. Further details will be posted on Hatsune Miku’s and Kotobukiya’s Twitter accounts soon…

9. Komi Kan’t Kommunicate

Tomohito Oda’s Komi-san Wa, Comyushou desu ( Komi Can’t Communicate ) is finally getting an anime adaptation.

Produced by Shogakukan and animated by OLM Studios, A comedy school-life story that follows Shouko Komi, a tall graceful yet seemingly cold beauty, and a boy, Hitohito Tadano, that discovered she was merely really shy all along and helps her to try to make friends with other people.

The adaptation is slated to premiere sometime on October this year


10. Mecha Designer Kazutaka Miyatake Hospitalized After House Fire

71-year-old mecha designer, Kazutaka Miyatake, along with his 60-year-old wife. Tomoko Watanabe was hospitalized after a fire broke out at his home residence in Yokosuka City in the Kanagawa prefecture.

Unfortunately, His wife passed away in the hospital while Miyatake survived and not in serious condition. According to TBS, the back of the house was reported being on fire at around 3:00pm and twelve fire trucks was called to the scene.

It took two hours to put out the fire, leaving the one-story wooden house partially destroyed. Miyatake was behind the mechanical designs of the original Super Dimension Fortress Macrossand other series such as Space Battleship Yamato, Super Robot Wars, RahXephon, and Eureka Seven.


In these trying times, where sanity is scarce and a lingering unseen horror is still plaguing our world… We, the common folk, must bear witness to whatever transpires.
